Accessing email on a mobile device (Office 365)

Overview

The migration of all MVCC email accounts to the Outlook on the Web service in Office 365 will require any mobile email apps to be reconfigured to access the new mail system. For those who have been migrated to Outlook on the Web, use the instructions below to set up your mobile email app. 

While we recommend using the Microsoft Outlook app on both Android and iOS devices, any email should be able to work with the Office 365 email settings. 

Below, you will find instructions for setting up the following apps:

  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Gmail
  • Apple Mail
  • Account settings for other apps

If you currently have your email set up in any email app, you may need to remove the old account prior to setting up the new one. 

 

Microsoft Outlook (mobile app)

If it is the first time the app is opened, you will begin at step 2. 

  1. Open the Microsoft Outlook app and select Settings (gear icon)
  2. Select "Add Account" and then "Add an email account"
  3. Enter your full email address

          

  1. A Moraine Valley page will appear. Enter your password. 
  2. Your MVCC email account is now set up

 

Gmail app

The Gmail app is the native mail app for Android devices, but it can also be used on iOS devices. If it is the first time that the Gmail app is opened, you will begin at step 3. 

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap you profile icon in the upper right corner
  2. Tap "Add another account"
  3. Select "Exchange and Office 365"

  1. Enter your full email address
  2. A Moraine Valley page will appear. Enter your password.

  1. Your MVCC email account is now set up

 

Apple Mail

  1. Open the Settings app and select Mail from the list on the left
  2. Tap "Accounts", and then select "Add Account"
  3. From the list, select Microsoft Exchange

  1. Enter your full email address on the Email line

  1. Enter your password on the Password line and tap "Next"
  2. If you receive a message stating that the app needs "permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant", choose "Return to the application without granting consent".

  1. You will need to re enter your password on the following screen.

  1. Your MVCC email account is now set up

 

Other mail apps

Other mail apps may be used, but their configuration screens will differ from one to the next. Please, refer to the help sections of your particular app for guidance on adding a new account. If you are required to enter the email server information manually, use the following:

Encryption: SSL/TLS

Server: smtp.office365.com

Port: 587

Encryption: STARTTLS
