Intrado Location Manager with Jabber

Campuses with employees working onsite or remotely, need an E911 location management system that tracks device mobility and manage user locations. Enterprises are responsible for location tracking of any 911 call placed their communication network. Dispatchable locations ensure calls are delivered to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for emergency assistance. This software is only intended for employees using a laptop and Jabber phone.

Location Manager is used for compliance with Kari’s Law & Raw BAUM’s act.

Step 1: Installation

The software will automatically be deployed to your laptop. You will be prompted upon startup regarding 911 Location Manager purpose, how it works, and how to get started. Select the arrow in the lower right to proceed.

 

 

 

2. Configuration

You will be prompted to enter your phone number (See Image below). This phone number is the extension you use with Cisco Jabber. Refer to the lower left of Jabber for your configured 4 digit extension (See image below). Enter your 4 digit extension - Do not enter a 10 digit number.

 

 

3. Where are you located?

Enter your name and your current physical address. If you are on campus, enter the building and room number in the Location Details field. If you are at home, you are not required to use this field. Select "Save".

 

4. Setup complete

Your location is now registered with Location manager. In a emergency situation and 911 is called from Jabber, this address will be displayed to public safety.

 

5. How do I update my address?

911 Location Manager will automatically detect if you have changed locations. Once the software detects you are in a new location you will be automatically be prompted to enter your new address. The software will store these locations. You will not be prompted to enter a new address if a previous address is recognized. When a previous address is identified a notification will temporarily appear in the lower right.

If the wrong address is listed, select the system tray, right click the red pin icon, and choose "Manage my locations".

Under "Location", choose "Edit" and enter the correct address.

 

Quick tips:

  • When prompted to enter your address – Enter your address as you normally would. If you are on campus enter the room number in the “Location Details” field.
  • Always update the room number in the location field if you have changed locations on campus.
  • The software will save your locations. You will not be repromoted to enter an address at known locations.
  • When prompted to enter your phone number – Enter your 4 digit extension used with Jabber. Do not enter a 10 digit phone number.
