Overview
This article will show you how to submit FA Census Attendance Verification in Faculty Self-Service. Please read the following information carefully before completing the steps below.
*Financial Aid Census Attendance
To ensure a class is made financial aid eligible to receive financial aid funding, a student must be registered and have attended the class by the courses' posted refund date.   
Academically-Related Activities Include:  
- physically attending a class where there is an opportunity for direct interaction between the instructor and students.  
- submitting an academic assignment.  
- taking an exam, completing an interactive tutorial, or participating in computer-assisted instruction.  
- attending a study group that is assigned by the school.  
- participating in an online discussion about academic matters.  
- initiating contact with a faculty member to ask a question about the academic subject studied in the course.
NOTE: For Online/Virtual and Hybrid Courses: Documenting that a student has logged into an online class is not sufficient, by itself, to demonstrate academic attendance by the student. A school must demonstrate that a student participated in class or was otherwise engaged in an academically related activity, such as by contributing to an online discussion or initiating contact with a faculty member to ask a course-related question.
Institutional Drop Policy, Effective Fall of 2022:
Moraine Valley Community College has the right to institutionally drop students for non-attendance. Students who are reported at the Financial Aid Census Attendance date by their instructors as non-attending will be institutionally dropped from those courses. The course that is Institutionally Dropped will not be reflected on the student’s final transcript, and charges for the course will be reversed. Students who are receiving financial aid may have their aid impacted by courses being institutionally dropped.
If you submit a Never Attend Status in error, please contact Registration immediately. You will be asked to provide the course name and section/student name and student ID/correct status for course.

Steps
These are the steps that must be followed to submit FA Census Verification.

Login to MVConnect

Under the Self-Service Menu, click on FACULTY

Click on Faculty Information, then click on New Faculty Self-Service.

When self-service opens, click on the Section name/title to select the desired course

Click on the FA Census Verification tab:
- If a student has never *attended your course, mark them as Never Attended.
- For students that have been in regular attendance and/or are making academic progress, leave status blank.

Once you have reviewed all students in your section, you must click on the blue Certify button:

Once you hit the blue CERTIFY button to submit your FA Census Attendance, you will receive a pop-up asking you to CERTIFY THAT THESE STUDENTS ARE IN ATTENDANCE, EXCEPT THOSE MARKED NOT IN ATTENDANCE:
a. If you do not hit the SUBMIT button, the record is left open and will be reported as missing FA Census Attendance.

Click Submit to finalize your submission. Once submitted, the CERTIFY button will turn grey and the screen will be locked.
