How to: Scan Documents with your iPhone or Android device

Overview

This article will show you how to use your Iphone or Android to scan documents and save it to your computer. 

Steps

These are the steps that must be followed.

Section 1: Scanning documents via iPhone

1. Open Notes 

2. Select Paper/Pencil icon at the bottom right of the screen. This will open a new note  

3. Towards the middle of the screen, you will see a camera icon.  Select the camera icon 

4. Select ‘Scan Documents’ from the menu.  The image looks like this:  

5. Position the document or item you would like to scan in view of the camera.  If your device is in Auto mode, your document will automatically scan. If you need to manually capture a scan, tap the Shutter button to scan or one of the Volume buttons.  The Shutter Button looks like this: 

6. Depending on the document/item, the scan may allow you to crop information to include as part of the scan.  Drag the corners to adjust the scan to fit the page.  You will see the following direction: 

7. If the scan is sufficient, select Keep Scan at the bottom of the screen.  You will see this: 

8. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom right of the screen.    The scanned document will show in your note.  

9. Select the Scanned Documents   and select the Paper with Up Arrow , in the top right corner  

10. Select ‘Mail’ from the options and you can then email yourself the scanned document(s).  You will select this: 

11. Go to your email account where you can download and save your document(s) to your computer.

12. After you save the document to your computer, login to your MVConnect to upload your documentation.  If you were provided a link, you should be able to visit that link in an internet browser and after selecting Attach Here, attach the saved documentation.  You may see this: 

 

 Section 2: Scanning documents via android phone/tablet

1. Open the Google Drive app  

2. In the bottom right, tap Add 

3. Tap Scan 

4. Take a photo of the document you'd like to scan

  • Adjust scan area: Tap Crop 
  • Take photo again: Tap Re-scan current page 
  • Scan another page: Tap Add 

5. To save the finished document, tap Done 

Adding a scanning shortcut to your Home screen

To set up a shortcut to scan documents:

1. Open your Android phone or tablet’s widgets

2. Find the "Drive scan" widget

3. Touch and hold the widget

4. Drag it onto your Home screen. You may be asked to select an account

5. Choose the folder you’ll save documents inside. If you want to create a folder, tap New Folder 

6. Tap Select. You’ll see the folder name in the widget

 

Scanning documents via computer with Google Drive

Scan documents like receipts, letters, and billing statements to save them as searchable PDFs on your Google Drive

Note: You can’t scan documents with Google Drive on iPhone and iPad.
