Checking Wi-Fi Status While Connected to a Docking Station

Use this article to confirm whether your device remains connected to Wi-Fi while docked. This can help prevent applications from crashing or ending sessions unexpectedly if the docking station is disconnected.

Some applications require a continuous connection throughout your session. If you disconnect from your docking station, the application may crash or your session may end unexpectedly.

Step 1 - Click the Network connection status icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar to view your current network connection. This will show whether your device is connected to Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or both while connected to the docking station.

Step 2 - The yellow box is highlighting the Wi-Fi status in the Windows Settings menu. If it shows "MVCC" you're all set.  If it shows that Wi-Fi is available, click the arrow is pointing near the Wi-Fi connection area where you can open or check available network connections.

Step 3 - After opening the available network connections, find "MVCC" and click "connect". If it asks "Continue connecting?" click connect to confirm.

Step 4 - After connecting, your Wi-Fi status will now show "Connected, secured". Now you can remove your laptop from your dock, while staying connected.

Outcome

After completing these steps, your device should stay connected to the MVCC Wi-Fi network even if it is disconnected from the docking station. This helps prevent applications or sessions from crashing due to a lost network connection.
